Many ceramic convection heaters allow you to adjust your desired temperature level with ease. All you have to do is turn the thermostat dial on your heater up or down to set it at the desired temperature range. When your room reaches that temperature, your heater will automatically switch off until it needs to turn back on again in order to maintain that same temperature level. This helps save energy by preventing your heater from running unnecessarily when it isn’t needed.
Convection heaters are great for warming an entire room as opposed to radiant heaters (which warm objects and not the air), especially when the product includes a built-in fan to move the heat outward. This makes them an ideal choice for areas in which you’ll be moving around a lot, like a den, office or living room. Be aware that there are limitations to how large a room one heater can cover, so be sure to check your square footage requirements. Heating the air in large spaces can take some time!
These heaters are also designed with safety in mind; many come with several built-in features that help protect users from potential hazards associated with running a heater. For example, many models feature an internal thermal cut-off switch which shuts off power if temperatures become too high before resetting itself once temperatures drop back down again. Many also contain tip-over switches which automatically shut off power if tipped over or moved around too much during operation, reducing the risk of injury or fires.
As you can see, ceramic convection heaters offer an efficient and safe way to quickly warm up any room in your house without costly installation fees associated with baseboard heating systems or ductwork needed for central heating systems. Not only are they effective at providing adjustable levels of warmth, they also come with built-in safety features to enjoy and operate the heater in your home or work space worry-free. If you’re looking for a convenient way to keep yourself comfortable during colder months without spending a fortune on energy bills, then investing in one of these space heaters may be just what you need!
Maxx Air is proud to offer our own line of heaters (ceramic heaters included!) to consumers. To browse what we have to offer, just click the link below to find your new best heater today:

Many ceiling fans offer a reverse function, and it’s this function that allows it to be used year-round no matter the season. In summer, ceiling fans should run counterclockwise to create a cooling breeze in your home. In the winter, the reverse option allows the motor to rotate the fan blades clockwise, creating an updraft which takes rising, heated air at the ceiling and recovers it, pushing it back downwards for an evenly heated room.
Some specialty fans, like our ICF and HVLS models, are designed to circulate the air in a process called destratification. Destratification ceiling fans are superstars at bringing balance to hard-to-heat/cool spaces, from warehouses and stores to office buildings and homes. These areas with large, open rooms or high ceilings tend to have a greater temperature difference from floor to ceiling level, and destratification fans work to bring the whole space to a comfortable, equalized temperature from top to bottom.
It varies from brand to brand, so consult the instruction manual for your fan model, or contact the manufacturer if you’re unsure. Maxx Air ceiling fans are remote control operated, so it’s as easy as pressing the reverse button on your remote! No need for a ladder and sketchy balancing act trying to reach a switch on the motor or a special pull chain.
In general, ceiling fans are very inexpensive to run. Maxx Air ICF and HVLS ceiling fans are especially energy efficient, costing mere pennies a day to operate with typical usage. They can increase your comfort as well, which means you may not feel the need to run your HVAC unit as often or set a higher temperature on your thermostat to reach the same comfort level—and when your HVAC runs less, you use less energy, and can see some savings on that dreaded energy bill!
In need of a fan this winter? Look no further! Maxx Air has you covered with a full line of energy-efficient, modern ceiling fans that are sure to please in your space! See our fan offering below and click to learn more:

It just keeps getting hotter! According to the CDC, “…there are 67,512 emergency department visits due to heat, on average” in the United States each year. Exposure to environmental heat, combined with strenuous physical activity while wearing layers of uniform and protective equipment, can place athletes at risk of heat-related injuries.
|
Prepare for heat and humidity. Players and coaches should be trained for—and aware of—the signs of heat stress to keep everyone safe and the game going, including what puts them at risk, the symptoms of heat-related illness, and how to avoid overheating. Need a head start? Take a look at this table from the CDC and NIOSH to understand signs of heat illness and first aid and take the CDC's course on heat-related illness designed for everyone, be it coach, parent, or athlete. |
Introducing players to the heat slowly over time has proven to be an effective way to acclimate their bodies to better cope with hot temperatures over time. NIOSH recommends “gradually [increasing] exposure time in hot environmental conditions over a 7-14 day period,” with “no more than 20% exposure to heat on day 1 and an increase of no more than 20% exposure on each additional day.”
It’s important to know your environment and adjust your schedule accordingly. Look at forecasts to schedule game and practice times during the coolest parts of the day, monitor weather conditions during activities and prepare a response plan to extreme temperatures in advance so you’re not left wondering what to do when outdoor temps are severe.
For older players, create a buddy system to help monitor a player’s condition when training. Should a teammate show signs of heat stress, have a procedure already in place for notification to quickly administer first aid or, if more severe, conduct an emergency response.
Take steps to make improvements to outdoor areas to protect athletes.
Offer frequent breaks to hydrate and provide access to water at all times. NIOSH details that those “working in the heat [should] drink 1 cup (8 ounces) of water every 15-20 minutes.”
Create shaded areas for rest with pop-up canopies if in an open area, or use naturally shaded areas when available.
Limited air movement can make it harder to cool down. Circulate air around players using outdoor-rated fans, especially during breaks and at cooling stations. Maxx Air misting fans help combat heat stress using a combination of water and airflow to lower the ambient temperature by as much as 30°F and are a compact cooling solution to take to practice or away games.
Want to make an investment for player safety with one of these fans? Explore our options below! If you’re not sure what fan is best for you, contact us! We’re available to answer any questions you might have.

A typical air conditioner unit uses 1.2 – 5.0 kW an hour, while our 14” and 18” ducted whole house fans use anywhere from 0.4 – 0.6 kW an hour on average--less than half the pull of an AC. Why is this important? Saving energy also means saving money. In California, for instance, where energy prices can be as high as 19 cents per kWh, you could save up to $4.40 a day using your whole house fan instead of an AC.
Traditional whole house fans are mounted right above the air intake shutter. Modern designs are installed further into the attic, with a long duct between the fan unit and the intake grid. This distance dampens the sound of the fan running, making for a quieter unit than models before.
You’ve just opened your windows and settled into bed, but forgot to turn on the fan. Lucky for you, it runs on the latest technology! Just open your phone to the WiFan app to connect remotely, turn the fan on high or low speed, and set a run timer so that you can drift off without interruption and enjoy a cool room the whole night. Hunting for the on/off switch in a dark hallway is now a thing of the past when you choose one of our smart fan models with Wi-Fi hub.
The Maxx Air modern whole house fan design includes a damper box that fits easily between 16” on-center or 24” on-center ceiling joists and requires a smaller rough opening cut than larger, traditional fan shutters.
Convinced a whole house fan is right for you? Explore our options below, and be sure to check NFA requirements and sq. ft. sizing to make sure you get the best one available for your home. Bigger is not always better! If you’re not sure what fan size you need, contact us! We’re available to answer any questions you might have.
A fan of many names, for one. You'll see them listed online as carpet fans, floor drying fans, air movers, or blower fans. These are all specialized fans designed to draw in large amounts of air and push it outward in a concentrated area to aid in drying surfaces, be it a wall, floor, ceiling, or crawl space (i.e., not just carpets!).
Everyone can benefit from having a drying fan!
Homeowners can use this fan after mopping to quickly dry tile, vinyl, or linoleum floors. It can also be used to dry out spaces affected by minor water leaks, or to help dry freshly cleaned carpets or spills.
Commercial companies should also keep a carpet fan on hand. Professional painters can speed up the drying of freshly painted walls or ceilings to complete their jobs faster. Flood remediation companies can use it as a first line of defense to dry out rooms in the homes or buildings they are hired to help. Builders can also use it to dry their tile or drywall projects.
HEALTH Water leaks or flooding in a building can set up a space for potentially dangerous mold growth. According to the EPA, "Molds produce allergens..., irritants, and in some cases, potentially toxic substances (mycotoxins). Inhaling or touching mold or mold spores may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Allergic responses include hay fever-type symptoms, such as sneezing, runny nose, red eyes, and skin rash (dermatitis)." Fast drying (within a 24 - 48 hour window) is extremely important to starting the salvage process, or restoring a space back to a usable state for people to inhabit. |
|
SAFETY Wet floors are slip hazards. Even if you've attempted to mark off an area, accidents can still happen and injuries can occur if someone slips and falls. Drying a floor as quickly as possible ensures the safety of guests or residents by eliminating the potential hazard, and air movers are perfect for speeding up the drying process.

We’re proud of what we make and offer to ours consumers, right here in the heart of Texas. We hope that any time you use a Maxx Air product, you think of all of us here and know how much your purchase means to us.
Sincerely wishing all of you the best 2022 to come,

]]>We’re proud of the great team we have here at Maxx Air. Having been around since 1948, our company strives to keep our traditions alive and not only celebrate the holiday season, but the people who have made Maxx Air what it is today. No event is more looked forward to than our holiday party.
The day is always abuzz as the caterers arrive and set up, long rows of tables are decorated and music begins to flow from inside the warehouse.
We taste samples of the best homemade desserts in the baking contest, try (unsuccessfully) to weasel the winning recipe from the baker, laugh and chat with former employees who have long since retired but returned to give their well-wishes, vote on the best (or worst?) holiday sweater get-ups, watch videos of parties past, draw for prizes, talk about our year and our goals for the future, and finish with a few essential rounds of bingo before returning home.
It may seem trivial having it summed up into a single, short paragraph like that, but it’s a benchmark for our year, and a fond source of memories for all of our employees. It’s a homecoming for many, where we can all just press the pause button to gather, enjoy, and appreciate the family we have built here at work.
From our Maxx Air family to yours, we want to express our gratitude to the customers who support this company and all the people within it. It is truly an amazing thing to see this little Texas company-that-could grow and thrive year over year, all thanks to the customers who appreciate the quality that Maxx Air stands for.

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Founded in 1966, Anderson Ranch Arts Center is a premier destination in America for art making and critical dialog, bringing together aspiring and internationally renowned artists to discuss and further their work in a stimulating environment. Nestled in the Rocky Mountains of Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado, the Ranch hosts extensive workshops for aspiring, emerging, established artists, children and teenagers in eight disciplines, including Photography & New Media, Ceramics, Painting & Drawing, Furniture Design & Woodworking, Sculpture, Printmaking and Digital Fabrication.
What is the history of the business? What does your business offer to consumers?
In addition to the Summer Series: Featured Artists & Conversations, the Ranch hosts engaging events throughout the year including: the Recognition Dinner, held in honor of Anderson Ranch’s International Artist Award and Service to the Arts Award honorees; the Annual Art Auction & Community Picnic, a forty year tradition which features works of local, national and international artists; and a year-round Artists-in-Residence Program, fostering artistic growth for emerging and established visual artists. For more than 55 years, Anderson Ranch Arts Center has been working to enrich lives with art, inspiration and community.
What makes your business unique?
Our multi-disciplinary nature. We offer programs in eight different artistic mediums, which is quite distinct from other arts centers around the world.
What do you love most about this industry?
We are a community that brings diverse people together to learn and experiment in a safe and inspiring environment. It is rewarding to see and hear about the experiences our program participants have at Anderson Ranch and how their time here impacts their lives.
What are some ventilation problems you face with your business?
Once the CDC determined that the spread of COVID-19 occurs via airborne particles and droplets, we knew that air purification needed to be a key part of our business safety plan. In addition to Covid, we were facing other air quality issues from regional wild fire smoke.
Anderson Ranch is a 5-acre campus made up of 14 separate buildings and there are 200+ people who come here each week during the summer to take, teach or attend programs. Increasing fresh air flow, ventilation and purification across campus was a major undertaking. The QuFresh Portable HEPA Air Purifier provides the highest quality air purification possible for our students, faculty, staff and interns and allowed us to keep our studios and facilities open and safe, allowing us to continue delivering on our mission.
Have you tried any other fan products before this? What did you dislike?
We have tried some other air purification products, specifically Medify Air. These purifiers, while effective in our smaller offices and studios were not able to provide the level of air filtration we needed in our larger more highly trafficked spaces and industrial studios such as the Sculpture Building and Café.
How do our products solve these problems for you?
Especially as we go into the colder months when we are not able to have doors and windows open, the QuFresh Portable HEPA Air Purifier will be an instrumental tool in creating healthy and safe environment for our artists and other guests.
What do you like most about these products?
The QuFresh Portable HEPA Air Purifiers are very visible and give our program participants a visual reminder and peace of mind that we were doing everything possible to keep them safe with first rate air filtration. This allows them to focus on their work and have a great experience at Anderson Ranch.
What would you tell someone who's considering buying one of our products?
Safety should be a priority for any organization. No more than ever air quality is something all business should be providing to their staff and customers. From our research, QuFresh Portable HEPA Air Purifiers are one of the most effective and affordable air purifiers on the market.
What are your hopes for your company in the future? What do you hope to accomplish or where do you see it?
I hope that Anderson Ranch continues to thrive and grow in a sustainable way so that we can impact even more people with our mission of enriching lives with art, inspiration and community.

The All-in-One HeaterLet’s be real—dorms aren’t exactly known for being the height of luxury. Most times, you’re working in a space where less is absolutely more, and utilizing what little available room you have can be a challenge. If you need extra heating or cooling and your room is extra small, your best bet is to look for something compact and multi-purpose. Our Portable Ceramic Heater checks off both of those boxes: at only 9 inches tall, it’s small in stature but can heat a room up to 160 sq. ft. without a challenge. As a bonus, this do-it-all unit has a fan-only mode to use it in spring and summer for extra airflow. It’s lightweight at only 3 lbs. and it’s small footprint means it can store away neatly in a closet when you head home. |

Remember to study up on your college or complex’s rules and regulations before adding a fan or heater to your room. If you have more questions, we’re always here to help! Feel free to contact us for more information.
]]>Air purifiers are a great way to combat bad air quality. Looking online, you’ll be met with tons and tons of air purifier options. Some are portable, some are installed with your HVAC system, some are single stage, others are multi-stage. There’s a jumble of jargon and numbers related to the filters they contain. But, what exactly do those numbers mean, and what does each filter do? Let’s break down a few things about filters and their performance when used with air purifiers.
A HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter is an extremely dense pleated filter composed of interlaced glass threads in a fibrous mat. According to the EPA, a HEPA filter “can theoretically remove at least 99.97% of...airborne particles with a size of 0.3 microns (µm).”
It’s no wonder HEPA filters are used in a wide variety of residential and commercial applications. Due to their nature, HEPA filters can be one of the most expensive filters to replace – look for an air purifier which uses a HEPA filter in conjunction with a pre-filter, or that has multiple filtration steps, to trap larger debris before reaching the HEPA filter. Doing so will likely mean your HEPA filter will be on a longer recommended replacement schedule than it would be if used on it’s own, giving your wallet a break with fewer replacements during the year!
Ok, so a HEPA filter can remove particles down to 0.3 microns. But just how small is 0.3 microns (µm), and what the heck is a micron? A micron is a form of measurement used for extremely small particles—literally one millionth of a meter. Take a look at this chart from Visual Capitalist to see just how small some familiar particles measure up.
Guide showing just how small some familiar particles can be, measured in microns, from Visual Capitalist.
When is a carbon filter right for you? If you have an area with cooking odors, pet odors, or smoking, look for a unit with an activated carbon filter to refresh your space.
Unlike fibrous filters, which are designed to remove particles from the air, an activated carbon filter’s job is to focus on filtering out gaseous pollutants like odors and smoke. Porous charcoal inside the filter traps molecules as the air moves through in a process called adsorption. Think of the carbon a little like tape – as pollutants pass by, they become stuck to the outside of the carbon’s surface. However, just like tape, once something’s been stuck there, nothing else can stick on top. When all the binding sites have been filled, the carbon can no longer work to trap any more pollutants, which is why it’s important to change or clean it on a regular schedule according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Values, and rates the filter’s performance and efficiency when capturing particles of varying sizes.
Typically you’ll see MERV ranging from 1 – 16, although they can go higher for more specialized applications, like hospital use. The higher the number, the more efficient the filter is at capturing smaller and smaller particles. As an air purifier pulls air in, particles suspended in the air also follow and become trapped in the filter’s fibers.
For our portable air purifier unit, the AS1000WHT’s pre-filter has a MERV 9 rating, making it the first stage out of 3 filtration steps, and first defense against large particulates in the air. For MERV 9, this includes dust, lint, fibers, and other debris which can range from 3 – 10 microns in size.
Other manufacturers may use pre-filters with a MERV rating that is higher or lower than this, or may use only a single filter without a pre-filter or multiple filtration steps, so it's important to understand the unique challenges in your space and how each filter type or rating will benefit you.
In short, no. A higher MERV rating is not always better—higher MERV values also mean a more dense filter, which can impact airflow and can strain the machine it’s installed in if the unit is not designed to handle that rating. It's a balancing act between filtration level and airflow, so only use the filter rating recommended by the air purifier manufacturer to ensure your unit operates safely and as intended.
--
No matter what type of system you use, it’s important to note that no air purifier will completely remove all of the contaminants in your space. To keep any air purifier operating at it’s best, remember to regularly clean your unit and/or replace your filters according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Have more questions? We’re always here to help! Feel free to contact us for more information.

Rooted in history, the Baker Hotel was completed in 1929 and managed to grow in popularity despite the stock market crash and resulting economic downturn. Known for it's luxurious amenities and local mineral water, famous guests including the likes of Clark Gable, Judy Garland, and President Ronald Regan made their way to Mineral Wells, Texas to experience everything the Baker and it's city had to offer.
Shuttered in 1972, the once grand hotel sat empty and in disrepair until renovation efforts began in 2019 to restore the "Grand Old Lady of Mineral Wells" back to it's former glory as The Baker Hotel & Spa.
With development well underway, Maxx Air has provided the Baker restoration team with drum and pedestal fans--as well as our new air purifier unit!--to ensure they stay healthy, cool, and comfortable during construction.

Heat stroke can kill quickly, and dogs are potentially more susceptible as they cannot fully rely on sweating to cool their bodies. Instead, their main points of temperature regulation are panting and heat release from their nose, paws, and skin (vasodilation) which aren’t always effective as temperatures rise.
In addition to preventative measures such as all-day water access, providing shady areas for rest, and avoiding midday sun, investing in an outdoor-rated fan like our 20 in. pedestal unit can improve your pet’s well-being. This stand fan can be used safely on the patio for the whole family to enjoy, with a tilting fan head that enables it to be used as a spot cooler (we’re lookin’ at you, Rover!) to cool individuals and pets directly. It’s also helpful for keeping mosquitoes at bay with it’s powerful blast of air.
If you’re battling especially soaring temps outdoors, you can also add mist for added benefit, as with the Maxx Air 14 in. Misting Fan. This mini mister is effective up to 15 feet away and can operate up to 8 hours with the built-in water tank!
If you find you could use a boost for cooling indoors, an air circulator like our new 10 in. floor fan might be just the ticket. Small, compact, and quiet, it offers concentrated high velocity airflow to quickly cool small rooms or areas without being disruptive or taking up a lot of space.
Heat stress is also a worry for equines. Different shows have varying amenities, making it hard to determine what your horse will be provided when you arrive. Make sure your horse’s comfort is ensured no matter what with a unit like our 18 in. mid-pressure misting fan.
This unit can be used as a fan only, or with mist function to lower the ambient air temperature. Maxx Air mid-pressure units can function on a compact 10 gallon cooler or a 40 gallon cooler case for 14 continuous hours of mist on a single fill, which makes it great for cooling horses trailer-side before a big show or event, or after a heavy workout or long trail ride, and can also ward off annoying flies and mosquitoes.
Since competition horses (and you!) are always on the road, it can be hard to find an effective cooling solution that can go with you, anywhere. Our misting fan heads store in the innovative 40 gallon cooler, making it easy to transport on the road. What’s not to like?!
Whether it’s dairy cattle, goats, or chickens, protecting your animals from heat stress can make a difference in their productivity during heatwaves, especially if they’re enclosed in barns. Good ventilation also helps to decrease odors in your facility for a better working environment.
For chickens, we recommend our specially designed poultry fans, which are engineered with totally enclosed motors safe for dust, and wide grilles to allow for feathers and large debris to pass through without clogging the components. This translates to less maintenance for you when compared with typical ag rated fans!
Wall mount fans are also a great addition to large cattle barns, keeping the space well-ventilated when combined with an exhaust fan system, while helping to prevent insect strike. As with any agricultural space, a totally-enclosed motor is a must, and our Maxx Air heavy-duty 3 speed wall mount fan is our tried-and-true, best-selling solution. The pull chain speed selection can be lengthened or shortened as desired, making sure your barn is safe and that you have complete control over your fans no matter where you install them.
If your animals are confined to runs or pens indoors, and floor space is available, an evaporative cooler is always a great solution to spot cool concentrated areas. The smallest swamp cooler in our line, the 18 in. evap cooler has a variable speed control, a built-in water tank and water hose adapter, and caster wheels to easily push it around your barn where you need it.

As always, it’s important to take proper precautions when operating a fan near animals. To ensure their safety, fully read and follow all instructions in your fan manual, never leave your pets unattended if a fan is running, and only use fans in the setting for which they are rated.
Maxx Air wishes everyone a fun and safe summer! If you have any questions on ventilation solutions, we’re always here to help! Feel free to contact us for more information.

Let’s be real – you probably don’t need a portable fan 24/7, 365 days a week (unless you just absolutely need some high velocity white noise at night!). Fall and winter gives many Maxx Air fans some vacation time, tucked away until it warms up again.
Floor and drum fans should always be stored in a dry area indoors, and we recommend using a cover during the off season to protect against dust and debris buildup. Not only is it unsightly, but unchecked dust can reduce your fan’s performance, setting your blades off balance and clogging motors that may fail well before their expected lifespan as a result.
So what if you didn’t use a dust cover, or you have a permanently installed fan? It’s time to put in a little elbow grease. For cleaning information about your particular Maxx Air model, always consult the instruction manual included with your purchase. The vast majority of our fans are cleaned the same way, disconnecting the fan from the power supply, wiping with a soft damp cloth, and finishing with a pass of a dry cloth. Be sure not to use any harsh cleaning solutions, and take care to install all parts as they were previously if you need to clean the inside of the fan housing. That’s it!
Cleaning your fan ensures your unit remains at top efficiency. Even permanently installed residential and industrial fans (like an exhaust fan, bath fan, or whole house fan) can benefit from a deep clean when they need it, allowing the shutters to open more freely or the intake grille to pull in more air, keeping the motor clear of dirt which could shorten it’s life, and ensuring all belts, bearings, and pulleys can operate without extra resistance.
No matter the type, your fan needs checkups to keep it running at top performance. Put a plan in place to regularly inspect your fan from top to bottom, being careful to note any damage to components such as the power cord, blade assembly, motor, or grilles.
If you spot any damage at any time, discontinue your fan’s use and contact us for help, or visit our replacement parts section online! Chances are, we’ve got just the part you need to get up and running quick.

Coronavirus particles can linger in the air. Since air cannot flow as readily indoors as outdoors, homes, offices, and commercial spaces are often battling with less than stellar air quality. Now more than ever, it’s important to improve indoor airflow to help keep these virus particles (and others!) from collecting in the air to reduce the risk of transmission.
The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) recently released an online article detailing measures you can take to keep your home or building space well ventilated. Here, we’ll outline some of their suggestions and how Maxx Air products can help create a safer environment for everyone.
Open windows and doors when you’re able to get fresh air flowing.
Whole house fans operate on this principle, pulling fresh air in from these sources and exhausting existing stale air out of your space and into your attic to create a constant, cooling flow throughout your residence. This constant ventilation can reduce the concentration of viral particles in the air.
You can also create a cross-flow of wind similar to this using floor fans or barrel fans, placing a fan near one source (like an open door) to act as an intake of fresh air, and another fan at a second source (such as close to an open window) to push air outside.
Keep your exhaust fans on for an hour or more after people have used the space to help reduce virus particles.
In a house, this would include bath fans in a bathroom, laundry room, or utility space.
For warehouse buildings, keeping an industrial exhaust fan working during operating hours ensures you’ve got a constant source of air movement while employees are around to keep things running smoothly.
Yes, just using a fan inside can help!
If you’re not able to open a window or door as outlined above, keep a floor fan or ceiling fan on anyway to keep the air moving. If you’re using a portable fan, be mindful of the fan’s position, avoiding pointing it directly towards people or groups.
Although the risk of transmission can never be completely eliminated, Maxx Air is committed to providing quality ventilation products that can aid in the fight against this deadly virus. Choosing the best method of ventilation for you can be tricky! If you have any questions on how to better ventilate your space, contact us online or give us a call toll-free at 800-433-1626. President of Ventamatic, Terry Siegel, explores a brief history of our company, the Maxx Air brand, and where we are today.
]]>
Front cover of a Butler Ventamatic Corporation booklet |
This business has been in my family for a couple generations and I’m very proud to be part of it. In 1948, Henry Butler founded Butler Engineering Company to be a manufacturer of kitchen range hoods. In 1956 my father, Martin Siegel, acquired this company as an add-on to his kitchen cabinet manufacturing organization. During this time they developed a number of products to save energy, increase the life of roof shingles, and provide a higher level of comfort within a home. In 1975 after graduating college I began working full-time at Butler Engineering Company. Later that year we changed the name to Butler Ventamatic Corporation. Over the course of the next 13 years we added so many products and we poured our hearts into every single piece of equipment we’d develop. Our clients were always our top priority, and that has led us to where we are today. |
In 1988, I bought a controlling interest in Butler Ventamatic. I had two philosophies that I wanted to instill in the culture of the company. The first is “work hard, play hard, and make money.” This statement has been key during my career. For me, it was very important to enjoy the job first. If you do the work, you perform and get the maximum amount of accomplishment from there. When you play hard you enjoy the people you work with, the suppliers and customers that you interact with, as well as every small detail of your work schedule. Lastly, making money is the reward of working hard and having fun, because without it neither of these two are enjoyable and you wouldn’t be a great corporate citizen nor contribute to the well-being of your community. This has been a very motivating statement that has helped me during my professional career and I always wanted to pass that along to my team. The other philosophy has to do with an equilateral triangular pyramid (tetrahedron). Each point of that pyramid represents a value within the company. Each triangle must always stay balanced with each other so that it remains equilateral. The four components of this pyramid are quality, productivity, safety and integrity. This theory tells you that you cannot adjust one component without affecting the other components, therefore you must always be thinking in terms of the greater good or the whole of the organization. It is a simple, very understandable diagram that can be easily communicated and has been so helpful during my career and the history of this company. |

]]>Consider your personal needs when purchasing a fan. Is it for a large or small space? Will you be moving it around frequently? Can you use it during those all-too-often teleconference meetings or would it be too noisy?
With so many options on the market today, which style should you choose? Never fear! Here’s our top 3 air circulator recommendations for your remote work lifestyle.
A desk fan offers up-close, personal cooling without taking up crucial desk space.
Our HVDF series (available in 3 handy sizes) provides a gentle breeze that is quiet enough to operate while you talk on the phone or web conference and keeps papers and other lightweight items from blowing off the tabletop. The best part? It can be plugged into a USB port, allowing you to stray away from a standard electrical outlet and still keep yourself cool. Use it straight from a laptop, in a car, workstation, cubicle, and more! |
An air mover offers the best of both worlds where power and portability meet.
The Maxx Air® 14 In. Floor Fan can be used for spot cooling near your workspace or placed at one end of the room as an all-room circulator. It is ready to go straight out of the box and has 3 quiet speeds to keep you focused on the task at hand no matter the temperature. |
|
If you want to add a pop of color (and need something more powerful!) consider the 16 In. Turbo Floor Fan. This fan moves a whopping 1,600 CFM but remains ultra-quiet in operation through all 3 speeds. The deep shroud in red finish effectively pulls in air and pushes it outwards in a concentrated burst for a refreshing breeze. |
While heavier than a desk fan, these air movers are still designed with portability features, including a pre-installed carry handles and a built-in cord wrap to make moving them from room to room easy.
Ventilation is a method of regulating the air in a particular area. Ventilation allows outside, cooler air to enter the attic and push the hot air up and out. A well-ventilated attic breathes-in (intake ventilation) and breathes-out (exhaust ventilation) through vents located at the lowest and highest parts of your attic.
Anyone who has ever been in the attic during the summer knows that the attic gets hot—very hot. Summer heat can begin to affect the structural integrity of roofing components, including wood sheathing, framing lumber, and ceiling joists.
Many manufacturers of roof shingles will consider the shingle warranty voided if an attic is poorly ventilated.
Heated air from the living space below as well as moisture from cooking, bathing, and washing clothes leaks into the attic from the ceiling through light fixtures and fans, access panels, and fold-down attic stairways. Condensation can form on the framing lumber and the inside of the roof decking, leading to mold, mildew, and eventually wood rot.
Relative warm and cool spots on the roof deck can also result from heat and moisture leakage, which may lead to "ice dams" when the roof is snow-covered - and the inevitable roof leaks caused by water behind melting ice.
